Hey there, fellow gamers and developers! I’m thrilled to finally share my first ever game, Granny’s Highway! My name is Maurice, I’m 19 years old, and I’m from Germany. Today, I want to take you on a journey through the creation of Granny’s Highway and ask for your feedback to help me grow as a game developer.
The Beginning
Back in 2019, I had a dream. I wanted to create my own video game. At that time, I didn’t know anything about programming, but I was determined to learn. My goal was simple yet ambitious: to bring my game idea to life. Over the next few years, I dedicated myself to learning programming, focusing specifically on C# and the Unity engine.
Why Granny's Highway?
The concept for Granny’s Highway is a quirky and fun one. Imagine a sweet old grandma dodging incoming vehicles on a bustling highway. The idea struck me as both humorous and challenging – a perfect combination for a pixel art platformer. I envisioned a game that was easy for most people to pick up and have fun, with a character that players would instantly love.
Learning and Development
Learning to code from scratch was no easy feat. There were countless hours of online tutorials, late-night coding sessions, and numerous bottles of coke. But every bit of effort was worth it when I saw the first version of Granny`s Highway working.
The Game
In Granny’s Highway, you play as Grandma, who needs to cross a busy highway filled with speeding vehicles. Your goal is to dodge the cars and trucks, using quick reflexes and strategic movements. The game is simple yet addictive, offering a challenging experience that keeps you coming back for more.
